Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao (Assoc. Prof, Dr.), born in 1974 in Hanoi, has more than 25 years of professional experience working in the field of agriculture and bio-technology. Ms. Thao was one of the first generation leaders of VinEco Agricultural Investment, Development and Productions LLC., – a member of Vingroup – which officially established in March 2015. As the company’s Deputy General Director cum Chairwoman of the Science & Technology Board, Ms. Thao has made critical contributions to the establishment and development of VinEco over the past 4 years to become a leading company of the industry, with nearly 600 employees, operating a system of 14 farms with a total of up to 3,000 hectares of farmland and a network of more than 1000 contracted farmer households located throughout Vietnam.
From 1996 to 2015, Ms. Thao worked at Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA). Before joining Vingroup, Ms. Thao was the Dean of Biotechnology Faculty and Vice Director of Agro-Biology Institute of VNUA. Ms. Thao received BSc and Master Degree in crop science major from VNUA in 1996 and 1998 respectively; got the PhD degree in agricultural science from Kyushu University, Japan in 2002. From 2008-2009, Ms. Thao was a VEF scholar (Vietnam Education Foundation funded by U.S. government) at Cornell University, USA. In 2012, Ms. Thao was the youngest scientist who was appointed Associate Professor in Agriculture.
